Lost in Herself (2022)
First it is about a purely aesthetic perspective. All the lines and angles (the roof, the house, the fence, etc.) together form a specific kind of balance in which all seem to come together to focus the eye on the figure and the scene that is being reflected back through the mirror. Thereafter, you may find a delicate rapport between the image and the contemporary situation facing us.
Since the first whistle of Covid-19, we seem to have helplessly experienced the gradual demise of globalisation. We are more inclined to protect ourselves, our families and our countries instead of paying any concern to the world. Populism is growing everywhere. This series in this circumstance, is an effort to resist this change. An Asian girl in nature, from composed herself to a certain state of mania, then from the coexistence with nature she finds the equilibrium again. The mirror as a symbol, covers her face and reflects nature. It prevents the audience from a certain kind of gaze to identify other people's race. It is nothing about the visage and the race, we are born in and belong to nature, and we represent nature. My appeal is to be back to the Garden of Eden, and think about our shared past, present and future.
The image series Lost in Herself was featured as a cover story in Goji Magazine and Mob Journal.
